Canon EOS M200 Review - Compared to its predecessor, the Canon EOS M200 is capable of recording video up to 4K resolution and supports vertical video recording. The EOS M200 still relies on a 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor, but the performance of the Dual Pixel AF system has improved, has more focus points (143 AF areas), is equipped with Eye Detection AF, and is powered by the latest Digic 8 image processor. Canon EOS M200 Design
The shape of the Canon EOS M200 is similar to its predecessor, with a 3-inch screen that can be folded 180 degrees upwards and a flash with a pop up mechanism. Very simple with a compact body and easy controls. This camera is still without a viewfinder, has no hot shoe, or an external microphone port. Canon has only slightly made changes, namely rearranging the video recording button. The build quality itself is very good, the main body construction is made of metal with polycarbonate plastic in several parts and feels very solid in the hand. Unfortunately, the EOS M200 does not have a grip at all for our hands to grip the camera.
As for the attributes, on the top side is the shutter button along with the only dial or control wheel. On the back, the 3-inch screen can only be pulled up to 180 degrees which is useful for low-angle shooting and vlogging. Then, there is the menu button, video recorder button, four-way navigation where the upper button is for exposure compensation or delete, the bottom is for info, the right side is for flash settings, and the left is for AE lock or FE lock. In the middle there is a Quick Controll button and below it is a playback button.
The right side is empty, the microUSB port is not yet Type-C, micro HDMI, and an SD card slot is on the left side. The battery slot in the lower area uses the LP-E12 type which according to the CIPA rating is capable of presenting 315 shots. Charging is still using the special charger adapter that comes with it.
Performance
The Canon EOS M200 carries a 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor with a Dual Pixel autofocus system and has more focus points from 49 to 143. Complete with face and eye detection features that work quickly and consistently lock moving objects.

For initial use, in my experience the EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM kit lens which is equivalent to 24-72mm at 35mm is quite capable and covers many usage scenarios. On the occasion of this Canon EOS M200 review, I also used the EF-M 55-200mm f / 4.5-6.3 IS STM lens which is equivalent to 88-320mm at 35mm, keep in mind that the APS-C sensor used by Canon has a crop factor of 1.6x. .
